Brother Tom Houde is a Visiting Associate Professor at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota.

He teaches Oral Communication, Directing I, Theatre History, Costume Design, and Artscore. Brother Tom came to Winona from the University of Bethlehem, Palestine where he was director of theatre and a teacher in the English, Education and Humanities Departments. While there, he directed and designed plays both in English and Arabic. He initiated a yearlong Director's Workshop Program and a Children's Theatre Company that traveled to villages and camps throughout Palestine. Brother Tom holds a B.A. in acting/directing and a M.F.A. degree in set/costume design from the University of Minnesota, a M.A. degree in pastoral theology from the University of St. Thomas and a Ph.D. in theatre history, dramatic criticism and literature from the University of Minnesota. Brother Tom has taught, acted, directed and designed in Midwest high schools, universities, community theatres and semi-professional theatres for the past 25 years.

Brother Tom's SMU costume designs include Macbeth, Remains, O Jerusalem, Brighton Beach Memoirs, Fuddy Meers, The Misanthrope, Of Mice and Men, The Sea Gull, The House of Bernarda Alba, Oedipus, Picasso at the Lapine Agile, Gypsy, Come Back to the Five and Dime Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean, and You Can't Take it with You. Directing credits include Firebugs, The Future is in Eggs and The Importance of Being Earnest.
