$100,000 Advisory Board Challenge
In February 2010, Jon & Betty Kabara posed a challenge to the newly-formed Kabara Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies Advisory Board to raise $100,000. In return, the Kabaras pledged a matching gift of $100,000. The purpose of the Advisory Board Challenge was to ensure that future programming, mentoring and entrepreneurial education continues at Saint Mary's.
Shortly after the $100,000 challenge was announced, the Kabara Institute Advisory Board responded with seven individual gifts and pledges totaling $101,500. A gift of $39,000 was made to the university during the 2009-2010 fiscal year. The remaining $62,500 in pledge committments will be fulfilled by 2012. As the Kabara Institute continues to grow, the need for an additional $2 million will be become increasingly important to build upon the Institute’s current endowment. Funds support annual operating needs, which include programming, staffing and general expenses.
Thanks to Jon & Betty’s on-going support and the philanthropic generosity of the Kabara Institute’s Advisory Board, the Kabara Institute is well-prepared to support students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the Winona community with knowledge of how to succeed as business owners.
