First-Generation Initiative
Providing access & support for first-generation college students

If you could change the direction of a young person's life in a transformative way, wouldn't you? Saint Mary's University now offers you that chance through the First-Generation Initiative (FGI).

The First-Generation Initiative
Saint Mary's University is eager to respond to the perplexing problems first-generation students, especially economically disadvantaged persons of color, face and proposes the nation's first comprehensive solution. The First-Generation Initiative will provide first-generation college prospects with:

  • sufficient tuition assistance;
  • on-campus enrichment programs; and
  • pre-collegiate preparatory work, or "college preparation programs."

Most significantly, first-generation college candidates will begin preparing for college, academically and socially, while still in middle school.

Please give a young man or woman a better future through the First-Generation Initiative. Your gift will help the nation's academic inequity, and bolster American productivity and economic progress, one student at a time.
