If you have specific media contacts in mind for your event, the Marketing & Communication and University Relations offices must be the initial point of contact.

We have working relationships with most local media editors and reporters, so it helps to coordinate our communications with these contacts. Also, reporters often need background information or assistance with photo shoots, which our offices provide. We can also contact appropriate media for stories of national merit.

All SMU-related media activity should be referred to the Marketing & Communication or University Relations offices. News media are required to ask for permission from these offices before interviewing individuals or visiting our campuses.

Our offices are always looking for story ideas that can be used in the university magazine or our newsletters; sent to the traditional, online and social media; or enhance our website.

University and campus-wide newsletters keep the Saint Mary's community informed about activities, events and news. Each SMU newsletter has its own deadline for submission.

“Campus Notes” comes out on Fridays during the school year and every other Friday during the summer. The newsletter – which goes out to all Winona faculty and staff, area media and some outside constituents — is not published during academic breaks. The deadline is noon the Wednesday prior to each issue. Send submissions to Deb Nahrgang at dnahrgan@smumn.edu.

The “SGPP Bulletin” comes out regularly throughout the school year to all faculty and staff. Submissions can be sent to Becki Warnock at rwarnock@smumn.edu.
