Dr. Solberg is currently a half time Core Faculty Member with the rank of Professor in the PsyD Program. He established the PsyD Program at Saint Mary’s, and served as its Director from 2009-2016. 

Prior work experience includes 18 years in the undergraduate psychology department at Saint Mary’s University in Winona, and 17 years as a core faculty member and Department Head at the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology in the Twin Cities.

  • Areas of Expertise

    Critical review and interpretation of research in health care related fields.  Expert in methodology and data analysis for clinical trials and survey research.

    Cognitive processes including memory, perception, decision making, and expertise.  

  • Scholarly & Creative Interests

    Dr. Solberg has extensive experience in both quantitative and qualitative research methods, and is the author or co-author of eleven peer reviewed publications.  He specializes in outcome research for evidence based practice.  Other teaching and scholarly interests include cognitive neuroscience and the history of psychology.

  • Experience

    Dr. Solberg has a lifetime of experience in university teaching and program administration at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels.  He has special expertise in research methodology and statistics, and provides consultation and supervision in these areas to social service agencies, faculty, and students.  He has developed procedures for assessing the effectiveness of psychotherapy, and conducted needs assessment and outcome evaluations for nonprofit agencies and organizations.
