Position Responsibilities
The Assistant to the Chief Academic Officer (CAO) provides strategic organizational and planning support for the CAO, with secondary support to the President, cabinet members, and the president emeritus. The role is accountable for all administrative details, schedules, events, and phone/email correspondence. The position also collaborates with other university offices to record meeting minutes and plan agendas related to commencement ceremonies, employee recognition awards, campus-wide inter-departmental meetings, and private meetings/dinners. Specifically, this position
  • Provides administrative support to the CAO and other university leaders’ calendar, correspondence, telephone, and travel.
  • Prepares agendas, documents and records/distributes minutes from administrative meetings  with the University Academic Council, the Council of Regents and Regent sub-committees, and other academic and budgetary planning groups
  • Reconciles monthly credit card statements and invoicing  
  • Arranges for faculty and staff gatherings throughout the year, especially all-staff holiday luncheons and a summer picnic
  • Provides support for forums and events at the Hendrickson Institute for Ethical Leadership
  • Coordinates various administrative details for commencement, including emcee script preparation, ordering awards and programs, and planning receptions
  • Initiates and produces the bi-monthly newsletter for the Schools of Graduate and Professional Programs
  • Supports annual processes such as the issuing of staff contracts, performance reviews and year-end reports
  • Other administrative or planning support as directed by the CAO

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required, with experience in a higher education environment strongly preferred
  • Three or more years’ experience in administrative support to C-level professionals
