Position Responsibilities
The Director of Student Enrollment plays a vital role in implementing recruitment strategies designed to enroll a new-student class that meets or exceeds university goals with regard to academic quality, diversity, and headcount.  Reporting directly to the VP for Enrollment, the Director of Student Enrollment has responsibility for hiring, training and supervising first-year admission counselors; and interprets and analyzes data to adjust recruitment plans to respond to market conditions.   
  • Supervise professional staff; hire, train, motivate and inspire staff as a whole while working with them to achieve desired recruitment, quality, diversity and net revenue objectives.
  • Provide daily direction and support to admission staff and maintain open communication with the Director of Admission pertaining to the progress of the Office in reaching desired goals.
  • Support the development of the annual recruitment, communication and budget plans to position the college to achieve enrollment success.
  • Support the execution of a yield plan to convert admitted students to enrolled students.
  • Lead the development and execution of visit events and experiences to promote Saint Mary's and its programs to prospective students and their families.
  • Foster relationships with regional and national college-bound organizations and professionals to promote Saint Mary's University.
  • Lead the ongoing use of a CRM-based approach (Target X) to enhance interaction with prospective students and admission staff throughout the recruitment process.
  • Provide on-going reporting and data analysis to advance enrollment efforts.
  • Work closely with financial aid staff regarding matters of financial aid leveraging and the delivery of net tuition revenue outcomes.
  • Meet regularly with students and families to provide admission and financial aid counseling.
  • Assist the VP as a liaison with athletic staff regarding matters pertaining to student recruitment and outreach. 
Essential Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience being diplomatic and collaborative in a team environment. 
  • Strong computer skills: solid understanding of the use of the Internet, Microsoft Office, and CRM-based enrollment tools.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Familiarity with, and an appreciation of, the value of a private liberal arts, faith-based education.
  The successful candidate must support, respect, and advance the mission of Saint Mary's University as a Lasallian Catholic institution.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Knowledge of current national enrollment practices and understanding of regional matters impacting the recruitment of students. 
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license since frequent travel is required of this position.
  • Understand the use of enrollment predictive modeling and financial aid leveraging as tools to shape an incoming class.
  • Experience developing strong professional relationships and communicating effectively with diverse groups of people.
