Position Responsibilities
Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota invites applications for Academic Evaluation and Assessment Analyst. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Curriculum and Assessment, this position is responsible for data collection, analysis, and reporting for curriculum and assessment across the university. The role serves as project manager for the systemic implementation of surveys and other data collection tools for course evaluations, program review, program assessment, and specialized program need, done in conjunction with program leaders.
 
Specifically, this position:
  • Designs data collection, evaluation, and survey systems based on program needs and plans.
  • Extracts and translates data for analysis using knowledge of relational database systems.
  • Integrates data from various systems, identifies patterns, and draws conclusions from complex data sets.
  • Conducts data validation and updates design methods to improve data integrity.
  • Coordinates data collection with other university departments.
  • Assists with the development of timelines, materials, and workshops on data and assessment administration, planning, and rating.
  • Conducts tailored research studies based on program and university needs.
  • Assists in maintaining assessment, evaluation, and program review data and reporting archives.
  • Develops various curriculum and assessment dashboards and visualizations to monitor key performance indicators for various departments and programs. 
  • Determines data needs of departments and programs through open communication and collaboration.
  • Coordinates the course evaluation system.
  • Serves as the contact person for assessment and survey software.
Essential Skills and Abilities
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical and team skills
  • Fluency with translating technical information to non-technical staff.
  • Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear and concise reports
  • Instruct others in the effective use of data and how best to present the data in charts, graphs, and reports;
  • Multicultural literacy, with comfort and experience working with diverse cultures and populations
  • Data accuracy and attention to detail
  The successful candidate must support, respect, and advance the mission of Saint Mary's University as a Lasallian Catholic institution.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Functional expertise with large, complex data base structures and software for data processing, analysis, and presentation sufficient to retrieve, analyze, and present findings.
  • Well-developed SQL query methods, quantitative and qualitative research methods to design effective research.
  • Experience with business analytics, information systems management, data integration, and concepts of organizational effectiveness.
  • Familiarity with relational database systems and non-relational database systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft suite (particularly Excel), database administration, data analysis, report writing tools, and technical or report writing.
  • Experience in data collection and higher education is preferred.
