Position Responsibilities

Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota is seeking an Assistant Men’s and Women’s Track and Field coach to assist the head coach in the operation of all functions related to coaching a competitive division III program. This is a full time, benefit eligible, year-round position.  

Job responsibilities include:

  • Coaching, specifically responsible for one of the following areas: 1. sprints / hurdles or 2. field events / jumps or 3. throws depending on area of expertise / qualifications.
  • Assist with planning pre-season, season, and off-season practices.
  • Assist the associate track and field coach with meet management of home cross country and track and field meets.
  • Assist the recruiting coordinator with recruiting high-caliber student athletes with high character (cross country as well as track and field). 
  • Assist with enhancing the student-athlete collegiate experience through team expectations and culture.
  • Perform secondary duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues, students, recruits and other stakeholders.  
  • Conduct oneself according to NCAA Division III and MIAC rules and regulations.  
  • Ability to travel.  
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Previous collegiate, club or high school coaching experience required. Three to five years of coaching experience preferred.
