Position Responsibilities

Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota invites candidates to apply for a three-year term faculty position in the Theology department, beginning in August of 2020. The standard teaching load is defined as 22-24 credit hours per contract year, covering areas of undergraduate Roman Catholic Theology.  Typically, that means eight 3-credit courses a year (4/4).  Half of these could be our introductory course titled “Thinking Theologically.”  

Essential Skills and Abilities
Evidence and demonstration of successful teaching is preferred as well as evidence of student mentorship and scholarly engagement.  A desire to pursue excellence in teaching is necessary.

Education and Experience
The successful candidate will be Catholic and will have been granted a Ph.D. in Theology (open specialty) or a related field by August of 2020.  Especially considered are persons willing and able to develop and teach major courses in Theology, including classes for the newly revised General Education program.  Some courses could be online or blended / hybrid deliveries.  Please see for further descriptions of the General Education program area.
