Position Responsibilities

The assistant program director provides any of a number of administrative services to the program director and occasionally to faculty and students of the Schools of Graduate and Professional Programs (SGPP). Working closely with the program director and Student Central staff, the assistant program director provides administrative support, external engagement, and event coordination.

  • Provides administrative support that includes calendar scheduling, recording meeting minutes, document management, filing, and other administrative duties.
  • Follows program website and social media and assists the program director and consultants regarding content development.  
  • Coordinates event planning including, but not limited to, annual retreats, forums, professional development series, and conferences; attends and facilitates the organization of these events.
  • Communicates with invitees prior to, during, and after events to manage attendance, participation, and evaluation.
  • Communicates with speakers and presenters to facilitate travel and lodging arrangements as well as stipends.  
  • Assists with program level communications, specifically with external partners such as communicating with partner schools or managing timelines with technology and marketing consultants.
  • Assists with formulating bi-annual grant report.
  • Provides work direction and oversight of graduate student assistants.
  • Coordinates documentation and communication of program policies, procedures, and outcomes.
  • Participates in meetings and events as required, including graduation ceremonies.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; commensurate professional experience may be substituted.
  • Experience in office, administrative, or customer service positions preferred, but not required.
