Position Responsibilities
The Associate Director of Athletics will assist the Director of Athletics with formulation and administration of policies pertaining to intercollegiate athletics. This position will represent the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics within the university, with the conference, and with national organizations. This role will assist with supervision and evaluation of department staff and be responsible for sport oversight for select sports within the athletic department.
  • Responsible for the communication of information to student-athletes necessary for their participation in the competitive sports programs of the university. 
  • Assist the Athletic Director in internal budget creation and fiscal responsibility and efficiency.  
  • Responsible for all NCAA compliance tasks for the athletic department.
  • Serve on SWA committee and compliance committee in the MIAC.
  • Assist in grant identification and grant applications for potential professional development and staff enhancement opportunities.
  • Verify eligibility and file official forms as required by the MIAC and NCAA for athletes and teams representing the university. 
  • Maintain liaison with health services/athletic trainer concerning policies and procedures in handling student athletic physicals and insurance waivers and follow up students with special health problems. Serve on mental health task force committee on campus.  
  • Assist in the administration, schedules, organization, and conduct of all intercollegiate games, tournaments, invitationals and meets sponsored by Saint Mary's University. 
  • Be knowledgeable on Title IX policies and guidelines and be responsible for promoting the university's compliance to these guidelines and policies. 
  • Coordinate the use of the university fieldhouse, the tennis courts, and the outdoor playing fields, giving consideration to intercollegiate athletic programs, activity classes, intramural programs, and clubs and organizations.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director and/or the Vice President for Student Affairs and Student Life.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Master’s degree in administration or related field preferred.  
  • Background in intercollegiate athletics preferred.
