Position Responsibilities

Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota invites applications for Associate Director of the Saint Mary’s Fund. Reporting to the Director of the Saint Mary’s Fund, and working closely with other development directors, the associate director coordinates solicitations through fund-raising activities primarily for alumni, athletics, students, and reunion classes with a focus on the recent alumni demographic. This position will work closely with the Director of the Saint Mary’s Fund, the Assistant Vice President for Development, and Development Directors to coordinate solicitations in order to ensure the fiscal goals of the Saint Mary’s Fund are met on an annual basis. The position requires some evening, weekend work and potentially some travel.

Specifically, the associate director:

  • Collaborates with the director to manage the Saint Mary’s Alumni Phonathon including setting and reaching fundraising goals, hiring student callers, developing content for scripts, strategizing calling segments, coordinating follow-up and reminder documents, all to ensure the success of the Phonathon program.
  • Works with the Athletic Director, coaches, and student athletes to coordinate and execute the Cardinal Excellence Fund annual giving campaigns. 
  • Coordinates with Alumni Relations to develop programs and strategies to increase recent alumni engagement and philanthropic participation at Saint Mary’s.
  • Works with the Future Alumni Committee to develop robust student solicitation programs such as Give to the Max and Senior Gift.
  • Plans, develops, and implements fundraising strategies for reunion alumni classes celebrating 5, 10 and 15 years. 
  • Assists with Saint Mary’s Fund appeals, direct mail solicitations, giving days, emails, and other correspondence and related materials. 
  • Develops and edits website and social media content, posting, and communication plans.
  • Assembles reports that detail the current status of fundraising activities, and works with Director of Saint Mary’s Fund to ensure goals are being met.

Education and Experience
  • A bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Two or more years of related fundraising or similar college/university alumni relations experience.
  • Subject matter expertise with various social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter.
  • Occasional night and weekend work is required, along with infrequent overnight travel.
