Position Responsibilities

The Part Time Building Coordinator oversees the safe and effective operation, as well as late afternoon and evening supervision, of the Saint Mary’s University Rochester Campus. This position supervises the facility and provides assistance to the faculty, staff, and students. The Building Coordinator will work part time Monday through Thursday, from 3:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday variable hours, when class is in session.

  • Ensures students, faculty, and staff can access and move about the facility in a safe and effective manner
  • Understands schedule of classes and events, planning ahead to provide assistance as needed in special circumstances
  • Oversees building and rental groups during scheduled working hours
  • Assists instructors and outside rental groups with basic technology troubleshooting
  • Ensures the facility receives regular cleaning, maintenance, and set ups for special events
  • Light custodial duties will be expected, including light snow removal
  • Advises Director on issues related to facilities use, room occupancy, special groups, and other operational items, including email communication
  • Greets students and answers non-academic related questions  
  • Conducts frequent building rounds
  • Secures locks in the facility and sets alarm upon completion of classes
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Essential Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent organization, communication, and customer service skills
  • Familiarity with computer technology including printers, and Wi-Fi

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. A college degree is preferred.
  • Experience in supervising a campus building, event center or similar facility.
