Position Responsibilities

The Office of Mission and Ministry is seeking candidates for the position of Campus Minister. This position is primarily responsible for leading liturgies and faith formation opportunities for the Saint Mary’s University Winona campus. Reporting to the Director of Campus Ministry, this full time, 12-month position offers full benefits with an option for on-campus staff housing. Job responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and implement liturgical celebrations (weekend liturgies, daily liturgies, holy days and other special university liturgies, Christmas Light Service, reconciliation services, Baccalaureate, Advent/Lenten prayer services) and other significant Masses and liturgies including weekly adoration and other para-liturgical services.  
  • Collaborate with the Celebrant on liturgies to ensure consistency with GIRM and other approved liturgical texts.
  • Coordinate and work with music personnel to direct liturgical choirs, liturgical committees, and liturgical minister training. 
  • Direct and collaborate with a variety of musicians who lead both instrumental and vocal ensembles for two Sunday liturgies and special university liturgies.  
  • Organize, plan and direct retreat opportunities with the Campus Ministry Team for students, including but not limited to, Together Encountering Christ, New Student Retreat, 48 Hours, Kairos, and Half-Time.
  • Collaborate with Campus Ministry Team to coordinate and promote faith formation opportunities for students, including but not limited to, small faith communities, Catechetical groups, Agape Latte, Bible studies, and engaging in evangelization activities on campus.
  • Work with Campus Ministry Team to develop new prayer experience opportunities for the Saint Mary’s University community. 
  • Collaborate as appropriate with the De La Salle Christian Brothers community, other religious, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary.    
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Studies, or related degree required.  This person should have experience with liturgical coordination including the selection of music for liturgies, coordination and direction of choirs and cantors, and preparation of people to be liturgical ministers.  Must be a practicing Roman Catholic.  Successful candidates will possess experience coordinating retreats and faith formation for individuals and groups.
