Position Responsibilities

The Office of Recreation, Involvement, and Student Engagement (R.I.S.E.) allows students to expand their knowledge base outside of the classroom and keeps with the Lasallian tradition of developing the holistic person.  The R.I.S.E. Office strives to provide engaging programs for undergraduate students on the Winona campus. The coordinator brings to life the vision for student activities, clubs / organizations, and leadership development.  The coordinator works closely with the assistant vice president for student affairs to ensure quality in all areas of programming and experiences. 

  • Develop a programming model and strategic initiatives to promote a vibrant residential community through spiritual, educational, and social campus wide-events that are both in-person and virtual.
  • Create and implement weekend programming events for students (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday after 8:00 p.m.).
  • Develop student leaders within the co-curricular guidelines of the Hendrickson Institute for Ethical Leadership.
  • Oversee, train, and mentor summer student workers and student office staff during the academic year in conjunction with Residence Life/Student Affairs.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of welcome weekend, family weekend events, and other special events in collaboration with Student Affairs, Residence Life, Student Success, and Academics.
  • Manage R.I.S.E. website, social media presence, online registration, digital signage and other communications in conjunction with the Marketing and Communication office.
  • Advise the Student Activities Committee and provide comprehensive advising and guidance to club / organization advisors including risk management, leadership, and business office policies.
  • Oversee student activities and organizations handbook and travel policy in conjunction with the student handbook and all university policies.   
  • Assist students with recruitment of faculty and staff as club / organization advisors / moderators.
  • Participate in meetings, serve on various campus committees, and provide support to other university events including Residence Life, Admissions, and Student Success as approved by the assistant vice president for student affairs.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and multi-tasking skills. 
  • Ability to work as part of a team to set goals, meet expectations, and responsibilities for the Office of Student Life.
  The successful candidate must support, respect, and advance the mission of Saint Mary's University as a Lasallian Catholic institution.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required.  
  • Master’s Degree with an emphasis in student personnel, counseling, higher education administration, or related field is preferred.  
  • Experience in student affairs or student activities is preferred.
