Position Responsibilities

Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota is seeking a Director for Student Central Services to provide strategic direction and oversight of the Student Central Services Center team on the Twin Cities campus and the Cardinal Central team at the College in Winona. This includes daily supervision, work direction, and problem solving for a cross-functional team responsible for key areas of enrollment, financial aid, student accounts, retention and other student services. The role is responsible for training, coaching and motivating the team to success. The Director will develop and maintain relationships with Saint Mary’s Admissions Offices, Registrar’s Offices, Financial Aid Office, and academic program leaders. Job responsibilities include:

  • Recruit, develop, and mentor the staff and operations of the one stop service in the areas of registration, financial aid, student accounts, billing, retention and other services.
  • Facilitate seamless service for students’ interactions and address all escalated concerns presented to the Student Central Services Office, working with departmental colleagues to resolve issues. 
  • Implement centralized enrollment services on behalf of the University community including services offered by the Offices of the Registrar, Admissions, Financial Aid and the Business Office.
  • Oversee the processing of a number of administrative functions including, but not limited to, account “holds”; course adds and drops; cash and credit card payments; timely reports of Student Central Services activities, etc.
  • Identify opportunities between multiple offices on campus for the most efficient and effective processes.
  • Forecast and plan for the needs of the one stop student services center.
  • Collaborate with the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management and other offices to maintain and develop an integrated full service, one-stop student services model for both the Twin Cities and Winona campuses.
  • Create a plan to spend time at the Twin Cities Campus and at the Winona Campus. 
  • Oversee daily operations by providing leadership and planning for the needs of the office including, but not limited to, creation and development of training, learning evaluations, and outcomes assessment for all team members.
  • Develop a team leader for both campuses.
  • Manage all one stop communications, website and virtual student service platforms.
  • Work alongside the student services team to ensure high quality service is delivered.
  • Monitor and report on student retention rates by program or academic department across the university and apprise the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management of issues and opportunities.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in leadership position in a university administrative setting.
  • Supervisory experience in a university administrative setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial aid, registration, and/or student billing in higher education environments.
  • Experience working in a One Stop Student Services Center at a college or university preferred.
  • Knowledge of the development and implementation of One Stop Student Services centers preferred.
