Position Responsibilities

Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota invites applications for Donor Relations Coordinator. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Advancement Services, the Donor Relations Coordinator is responsible for coordinating a comprehensive donor relations program that appropriately and consistently promotes interaction with and recognition of donors at all levels. This donor-centric position partners with Advancement and Communication staff and other university partners to determine and develop strategies for effective stewardship of all university benefactors and partners.

Specifically, the coordinator:

  • Coordinates multiple channels of stewardship communications and reporting.
  • Maintains a master calendar of stewardship related mailings and events.
  • Manages the stewardship of donor-funded scholarships, endowed funds, and related reporting and activities.
  • Assists gift officers with strategies for individualized donor stewardship plans.
  • Partners with operations staff to manage gift acknowledgment, matching gift, and pledge fulfillment processes.
  • Assists with the coordination of donor recognition events.
  • Supports data management staff to maintain the integrity of benefactor data.
  • Assesses ongoing stewardship activities, developing and implementing new and enhanced activities.
  • Oversees and organizes donor recognition activities on multiple campuses.

  • Ability to generate creative solutions think strategically about donor engagement.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills; ability to interact with donors, board members, volunteers, and others in-person, by phone, and in writing.
  The successful candidate must support, respect, and advance the mission of Saint Mary's University as a Lasallian Catholic institution.
Education and Experience
  • A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • One year of professional experience in development/donor relations is required.
  • Three to five years of professional experience in higher education development/donor relations is preferred.
  • Experience working in constituent management databases required, experience in Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge preferred.
