Position Responsibilities
The Graduate Assistant for Competitive Sports reports to the Director of Student Activities in all aspects of the position responsibilities. Primary responsibilities include implementing, promoting, directing and supervising the daily operations of the Intramural Sports program, as well as game day management for the Club Sports program. Additionally, this position serves as a member of the Office of Student Life and as such participates in all departmental functions. The Graduate Assistant will work approximately 28 hours per week, and is expected to remain in good academic standing in the Integrated Studies master’s program. 
  • Assist in developing, updating, and implementing intramural rules, policies and procedures, including manuals.
  • Promote, market, schedule, and evaluate team and individual/dual sports.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate student workers (officials and score keepers).
  • Conduct rule meetings for intramural team captains and participants.
  • Maintain intramural records and manage the budget.
  • Assist in program evaluation and assessment.
  • Assist with the management of the online registration system, IM Leagues.
  • Attend all intramural staff, captain, and rule meetings.
  • Develop and maintain a blended officials training model (classroom and hands-on).
  • Supervise intramural season, league and tournament games.
  • Supervise all home Club Sport competitions.
  • Manage equipment check out for Club Sports.
  • Manage indoor/outdoor sports equipment and fields.
  • Assist the Director of Student Activities with developing risk management procedures and protocols for Intramurals and Club Sports.

  • Experience in officiating sports.
  • Knowledge of various sport rules.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree required, prior intramural experience preferred.
