Position Responsibilities
The Graduate Assistant Hall Director is responsible for the operation of an area of residence halls, housing approximately 150 to 250 students. The position is a two to three academic year residential position (live-in required). The Graduate Assistant Hall Director is a 10.5-month staff member who is responsible for coordinating and implementing a comprehensive program for the residents.  Specific duties include assessing students’ needs, advising and supervising undergraduate student staff, judicial, hall/facilities management, and administrative duties.
  • Oversee a residence area consisting of 1-3 residence halls and approximately 150 to 250 residents.
  • Address students’ issues arising from student conduct, counseling, and crisis-related concerns for the hall or area.
  • Supervise and mentor a staff of 5-9 resident assistants.
  • Advise a Residence Life student committee (community service, training, social, etc.)
  • Promote departmental programs and services which respond to ongoing student needs.
  • Responsible for general facility management and maintenance of area.
  • Participate in rotation of all-campus duty coverage and back-up coverage.
  • Conduct weekly meeting with Resident Assistants.
  • 8-10 hours of collateral work to be determined by the Office of Residence Life.
  • Attend all required residence life meetings.
  • Participate in all appropriate departmental, divisional, and university meetings and training programs.
  • Assist in the recruitment, selection, and orientation of Resident Assistants and Professional Staff.
  • Successfully complete the graduate program requirements for the Masters in Integrated Studies program.
  • Other duties and assignments as designated by the Dean of Students or Assistant Vice President for Student Life.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required and prior residence life experience preferred.
  • Interest in the Master's in Integrated Studies program.
