Position Responsibilities
The Grounds Maintenance Worker creates a clean and healthy environment for students, faculty and staff on our Winona campus. This position is responsible for all types of groundskeeping work, which includes mowing, weed whipping, trimming trees, mulching, removing snow, and maintaining the trails. Duties include: 
  • Mowing lawns and trimming weeds using different types of equipment
  • Maintaining trees, shrubbery, grass, and plants
  • Snow removal and winter maintenance of roads and sidewalks using truck, Bobcat, shovel, etc.
  • Maintaining all grounds equipment for efficient and effective use
  • Operating commercial lawn equipment, Bobcat, aerial lift, tractor, chain saw
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Essential Skills and Abilities
The ideal candidate must:
  • Observe safety guidelines at all times and follow work procedures established by the university
  • Demonstrate professional interactions with students, faculty, staff, and visitors
  • Be able to lift heavy equipment and tools up to 50 pounds, as well as bend, crouch, crawl, climb into spaces where equipment is located
  • Be able to climb and work well with heights
  • Be able to work outside in the elements year-round
  • Have the ability to operate and maintain all snow removal and lawn equipment in an efficient manner
  • Be flexible to work off-scheduled hours as needed for snow removal

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.  Must have a valid driver’s license. All offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.
