Position Responsibilities

Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota is seeking a Help Desk and A/V Technician to support our Twin Cities campus. This position provides computer and A/V support to faculty, staff, and students by telephone, email, and in person. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a team environment and be self-motivated with strong customer service skills. This position will work daytime hours Monday through Friday with occasional weekend and evening support. Job responsibilities include:

  • Hardware and software troubleshooting
  • A/V support including cameras, sound equipment and projectors
  • Computer lab management
  • Classroom orientation and technical training
  • Printer troubleshooting
  • Upgrading software
Essential Skills and Abilities

The selected candidate will have the following skills and abilities: 

  • Experience with soundboard, microphones, and video equipment
  • Use/interpret job related terminology, effectively and efficiently
  • Professional demeanor and ability to remain calm in challenging situations
  • Ability to communicate and interact successfully with a diverse community of faculty, students and staff
  • Creative problem solving skills, attention to detail and follow-through
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly and adopt new technologies
  • Occasional evening and weekend support for special events and department coverage

Education and Experience
  • Required Qualifications:  High School Diploma/GED and 2 years of IT experience or an Associate’s degree.
  • Preferred Qualifications:  Bachelor’s Degree in IT related field, Certifications (A+, Microsoft, etc.), Windows and Mac operating systems experience, Microsoft Office suite.
