Position Responsibilities

The Instructor and edTPA coordinator will teach courses in general areas of education, foundations of education, methods courses for elementary teachers, capstone, advanced literature, etc. This position will teach an average of 24 credit hours per contract year which includes fall, spring, and summer course offerings and also complete various administrative responsibilities as it relates to teacher licensure. This position includes the responsibility of the supervision of student teachers in both the Undergraduate Teacher Education Program and the Master of Arts in Teaching program in the School of Education. 

This position manages the data and coordinates the submission of the edTPA portfolio, a state requirement for licensure. The edTPA is a performance-based, subject-specific assessment and support system used by teacher preparation programs throughout the United States to emphasize, measure and support the skills and knowledge that all teachers need from Day 1 in the classroom.  This role will also collaborate with Dean and School of Education colleagues to ensure successful Program Effectiveness Report for Continuing Approval (PERCA) submissions and a continuous Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) approval process.

Education and Experience
  • Master’s in Education or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Minimum of five years of teaching in a K12 school setting.
  • Evidence of advanced graduate coursework related to Reading as stated in MN Rule.
  • Current teaching license in elementary education, however other valid K12 teaching license experience will be reviewed.
