Position Responsibilities

Reporting to the Vice Provost for Online Strategy and Programs, the Manager of Online Learning Product Development is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, control and completion of multiple online educational product offerings, short courses, and alternative digital credentialing programs that align with the department’s online portfolio strategy and the university’s strategic plan. The role oversees online product development expectations and requirements with respect to curricular alignment, instructional design, technology requirements, product quality and production values. Specifically, the role manages the product lifecycle from solution idea, design, development and launch of innovative new online educational and alternative credentialing programs, beginning with a new online learning pathway through non-degree and degree programs offered in partnership with the Credly Acclaim badging platform. In particular, the person in this role:

  • Translates the business case for online educational product offerings, short courses, certificates and other alternative digital learning credentials into actionable project plans.
  • Gathers data to facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables.
  • Develops full-scale project plans that define project tasks, resource requirements/allocations, budgets, and timelines.
  • Tracks project deliverables using shared project management tools.
  • Presents reports and regular updates defining project progress, problems and solutions to all stakeholders.
  • Implements and manages project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs.
Essential Skills and Abilities
  • Exceptional project management skills, particularly with projects in demanding technical environments or with ambiguous/incomplete data.
  • Ability to translate strategic insights into actionable project plans, synthesizing and integrating data from multiple sources.
  • Working knowledge of online academic programs and environments, particularly in the areas of alternative credentialing and digital badging.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to switch comfortably from strategy to tactics.
  • Persuasive verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and data organization.
  • Proficiency in the Google Suite of tools.
  The successful candidate must support, respect, and advance the mission of Saint Mary's University as a Lasallian Catholic institution.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, operations management, or related discipline is required; MBA with operations management emphasis is preferred.  
  • Minimum of five years’ demonstrated success in higher education administrative leadership; comparable corporate leadership success in operations management, preferably in a B2C online services or corporate development for B2C online services.
