Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota is seeking a Program Director and Core Faculty member to provide vision and leadership for the launch of a new 4-year bachelor of social work degree at the Winona undergraduate college campus and the online bachelor completion program. In concert with the university’s new strategic plan and its distinctive Lasallian Catholic mission, the director integrates the bachelor of social work program with Character Education and Virtue Formation according to the framework developed by the Jubilee Centre in the United Kingdom at the University of Birmingham overlaid with Lasallian principles.
In addition to the new program launch, first-year accountabilities include curricular leadership, accreditation preparation, student advising, and university service activities. For the second year and beyond, the position transitions exclusively to program administration and teaching.
We seek a leader who can ensure program vitality and academic quality by balancing administrative and academic functions that support a rigorous approach to teaching social work and meeting student learning goals. The person in this role must support, respect, and advance the mission of Saint Mary's University as a Lasallian Catholic institution by understanding and supporting the alignment between the Lasallian core principles of Inclusive Community, Respect for All Persons, and Concern for the Poor and Social Justice; the National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics; and the values of the Catholic Social Workers National Association.
