Position Responsibilities
The SQL Programmer is part of the team that supports administrative systems for the university. This person handles technical requests needed to support the ERP including day to day operations of the system as well as overall server and application maintenance. The SQL Programmer works with end-users to ensure that the applications meet their needs. This role also manages the SQL databases including backups and regular upgrades.
  • Administer databases for all the University enterprise applications
  • Assist with data integration and manipulation into multiple applications including ERP, CRM, AD, Gmail, etc.   
  • Work directly with end-users to ensure the systems meet their needs and is user friendly
  • Provide support for the testing of new and existing software applications under development or consideration for purchase
  • Field incoming problem tickets to resolve application and software issues within servers, databases, and other mission-critical systems; test fixes, document and perform post-resolution follow-ups
  • Assist with implementation, maintenance, and support the University’s application systems such as the ERP and CRM systems
  • Support and develop software and applications according to specifications to enhance functionality of existing University systems and processes
  • Participate in planning and programming of integration projects and provide technical knowledge for multiple applications
  • Routinely document critical processes, procedures, enhancements to existing software, and development of new code
  • Manage day to day operations independently 
Essential Skills and Abilities
  • Proficiency in a variety of programming languages, including ASP.NET, SQL, HTML, CSS, Visual Basic, PHP, classic ASP; Excellent understanding of coding best practices and documentation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft SQL administration and utilities, including backup, packages, triggers, stored procedures, indexing, storage management, and constraints
  • Able to develop and interpret technical documentation for training and end user procedures
  • Knowledge of trends in technology relating to software applications and programming best practices
  • Good understanding of the organization’s goals, objectives, and the University’s mission
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to communicate and interact successfully with a diverse community of faculty, students and staff
  • Creative problem solving skills, attention to detail and follow-through, and excellent documentation skills
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly and adopt new technologies
  • Ability to travel between campus locations
  • Occasional off-hour and weekend support for special events

Education and Experience
Minimum qualifications: Associate's degree and 5+ years of technical experience supporting enterprise applications, enterprise databases, and software development or equivalent combination of education and experience
 
Preferred qualifications: Bachelors of Science Degree in Computer Science or related field and additional certifications (A+, Microsoft, etc.)
