Position Responsibilities
The Testing Coordinator/Student Support Specialist will be responsible for coordinating the Student Success Testing Center, reception area, and specific accommodation needs for students with accommodations at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. This individual is a vital member of the Student Success team, providing essential support to students and the department.  Job responsibilities include:
  • Arrange details for testing, such as dates, room assignments and resources needed, including software updates.
  • Hire, train, and supervise access assistants and graduate assistants.
  • Collaborate with faculty, students, and Director of Access Services regarding testing accommodations.
  • Manage conflict and concerns with faculty, students, or accommodations related to testing in collaboration with the Director of Access Services.
  • Provide scribe and reader accommodations as needed.
  • Research, evaluate, and maintain adaptive equipment and software needed for student accommodations and provide input to the department regarding equipment purchase and maintenance.
  • Maintain records and prepare reports of testing services provided.
  • Set up use of Assistive Tech for students needing the technology for exams.
  • Register, process payment, and administer academic testing activities.
  • Ensure compliance with test security protocols and timely notification of results.
  • Oversee testing record keeping and file maintenance, including daily and monthly billing reports.
  • Maintain and prepare analytical and statistical reports and records for management of testing services.
  • Collect documentation and provide information regarding setting up a meeting with the Director of Access Services.
  • Facilitate the production of and produce Alternate Format materials (e.g. e-text, MP3, large print formats, utilizing Access Text Network, Learning Ally, Bookshare, CourseSmart, Publisher sites, etc.).
  • Provide training and ongoing support to students with assistive technology needs on a variety of devices and software (e.g. smartpens, Google Read and Write).
  • In collaboration with Marketing and Communications, maintain Access Services, Universal Design websites.
  • Coordinate interpreting, scanning, and note taking services.
  • Be familiar with departments within the Student Success Center, academic areas, and other student services across campus in order to make appropriate referrals.
  • Coordinate front desk coverage and/or testing coverage as backup is needed to the front desk and proctor station.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
  • 3 years of experience working in higher education.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with disabled students preferred.
  • Knowledgeable of the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
  • Must work effectively with a diverse student population.
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and work both independently and with a team.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills required, including ability to deal with sensitive issues in a professional and confidential manner.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate on issues of campus climate with external and internal offices and stakeholders; and ability to communicate with diverse faculty, staff, students, and community members. 
  • Demonstrated commitment and success to an inclusive learning environment.
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check.
