Position Responsibilities
Reporting to the Provost and Dean of Faculties, the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management works collaboratively across the university to coordinate all enrollment activities. The candidate will engage a comprehensive long-term enrollment strategy that aligns with the university’s strategic plan along with its distinctive Lasallian Catholic educational mission. Among the key objectives for this role are to lead the recruitment of an academically strong and diverse student body in alignment with the university’s mission, emerging priorities and objectives from the strategic plan, and to design and implement enrollment strategies that promote coordination and cooperation to attract the best students regionally, nationally and globally. The well-qualified candidate will have the following responsibilities:
  • Establish the strategic direction, priorities, and goals for the overall unit and for each office within the unit, with clear alignment to academic and other University priorities.
  • Design, implement and maintain an annual comprehensive student recruitment plan linking budgets and expenditures to outcomes that measure and improve yield, optimize financial aid, and leverage institutional resources.
  • Create data-informed strategies that support efforts to recruit, select, yield, enroll, retain, and graduate an academically talented and a diverse student body comprising undergraduate, graduate, transfer, and international students.
  • Maintain, analyze and generate reports on key performance indicators relevant to enrollment effectiveness to regularly reassess the effectiveness of the university’s enrollment efforts and make data-informed adjustments to enrollment strategy to achieve desired results.
  • Deliver a high-quality experience for students and families as they engage with the University from the first encounter through matriculation and beyond.
  • Develop and support enrollment staff to maximize the team’s capacities and ability to be innovative, responsive, analytical, energetic, optimistic, results oriented, and student centered.
  • Employ up-to-date technologies to effectively and efficiently reach and track students and guide them to Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.
  • Stay abreast of market developments, academic priorities, higher education enrollment trends, and other key strategic indicators.
  • Work closely with the Provost to ensure cross-university functionality.

Education and Experience
  • A master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning is required, terminal or doctoral degree preferred. Significant strategic enrollment management experience as well as accomplishments in this area may be considered in partial satisfaction of degree requirements.
  • 7-10 years of experience in a strategic enrollment management leadership role in an institution of higher education; background in Catholic higher education a plus.
  • Knowledge of state, national, and international admission trends, issues, and strategies; advanced understanding of higher education branding and marketing strategies and techniques relating to student enrollment.
  • Significant professional experience managing the complex interplay of marketing and recruiting campaigns, enrollment goals, yield, and financial aid; knowledge of the strategic use of financial aid.
  • Expertise in enrollment management with a strong operational strategic outlook and demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful enrollment initiatives.
  • Must be able to advance the mission of Saint Mary's as a Lasallian Catholic institution.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
