Laura Gorny, M.S.
MA in Counseling and Psychological Services - Adjunct Instructor

Laura Segrue Gorny received her M.S. in Higher Education at Syracuse University before heading to the University of Minnesota to pursue a doctorate in Educational Psychology - Quantitative Methods (emphasis on evaluation and statistics education). She is a Ph.D. candidate finishing up her dissertation, which examines the convergent and discriminant validity of self-reported surveys and standardized instruments. With an undergraduate degree in Psychology and Environmental Science from CU-Boulder, she has worked in various capacities including college student counseling, academic advising, and student support services for first-generation, low income-students. Enhancing educational access and success is the primary reason she pursued teaching at Saint Mary's and she is fond of using a variety of teaching methods in her Statistics and Research Methods courses to keep them interesting, understandable and relevant.
