  • Budget season review
    • Budget season has left us a surplus!
      • Amount remaining varies depending on enrollment
        • Predicted $11,000-$12,000 surplus
      • We have two ideas with what we can do with that
    • 1. Proposed increase in the academic request budget for the 2021-22 academic year
      • This money is used to assist students with expenses related to academics, this includes conferences, seminars, etc.
      • $2,000 increase each semester proposed by Nicole Noreen, VP of financial affairs
      • Discussion
        • Lyanna Novak, how many academic requests do we receive each semester?
          • Around four or five large ones. This typically takes up all of the funds.
        • Collin van Waardenburg, do we have any data on the average amount requested for academic requests?
          • Last year they were around $600-$700 ,depending on where they were going and how many people were going
        • Enitan Oneyiga, how much is currently going into this fund?
          • About $2,600 per semester

    • 2. Proposed diversity and inclusion fund for the 2021-22 academic year
      • Discussion
        • Riley Hall, would this be similar to special request funds?
          • Yes, it would go toward speakers, events, conferences that involve diversity and inclusion. It is available for the entire campus at large. This showcases Student Senate’s support for the movement on campus. It would go through a similar process as special requests, except it would be vetted first by the VP for financial affairs and the VP for multicultural affairs before going to the finance committee for review.

      • There will be an IT survey in the CommUNITY newsletter, please participate. This is a step toward solving the Wi-Fi issues on campus.
      • PACT update: Please continue to monitor your emails throughout the summer for updates regarding COVID-19 protocols for the fall semester

      • Seniors must move out by Sunday at noon
      • Check out this year is different, there is an option to do an express checkout but you must fill out a form that you must sign. The express checkout waives your right to appeal any fines
