College Commencement Graduation information for the undergraduate College Undergraduate College Commencement May 9, 2015 Baccalaureate Mass – 8:00 a.m. (Saint Thomas More Chapel) Commencement Ceremony – 11:00 a.m. (Gymnasium) Reception – following ceremony Eligibility Any student who will complete all degree requirements by May 9, 2015, is eligible to participate in the commencement ceremony. Students who will not satisfy all graduation requirements by May 9, must request permission to commence by filling out the back portion of the application for Graduation & Commencement form. Questions on eligibility for participation in the commencement ceremony should be directed to the Office of the Registrar. Participation in commencement is not a certification of graduation. Academic Costume Academic costume is traditional. Dark clothing and dark shoes are recommended. Students should pick up their academic regalia at the Senior Salute on March 10. Ceremony The Winona Campus commencement ceremony will be a joint ceremony with Winona undergraduate and graduate students. The commencement ceremony begins at 11:00 a.m. The ceremony will be held in the gymnasium which will open at approximately 10:00 a.m. for guest seating. Tickets are not required. Gymnasium seating is primarily bleacher seating which will accommodate the majority of the anticipated guests. Alternative seating venues include the Gymnasium Lobby and the Performance Center. Video links will project the ceremony to these locations on large screens and will offer an unobstructed view of the ceremony. The Performance Center is air conditioned and offers comfortable padded seating. A live broadcast of the ceremony will be steamed over the internet. Photographer Lifetouch will take a full-color photograph of students as they receive their diploma envelopes. Degree candidates will receive information regarding the options to purchase portraits. For questions about photographs, please call Lifetouch at 1-866-214-0468. Reception All graduates and their guests are invited to a light reception following the ceremony. The reception will be held outside on the plaza. In case of inclement weather, it will be held in Gostomski Fieldhouse. Parking Parking may be limited on campus on commencement day. Please check back frequently for updated information. Disability Accommodations Handicapped parking is available on campus. Anyone needing special accommodations for seating in the gymnasium should call (507) 457-6678 to make arrangements prior to the ceremony. In order to honor all special needs section seating requests, only one additional guest may sit with the individual requesting special needs seating. A sign language interpreter will be at the ceremony. Housing Options On-campus housing is available for family members of seniors on a first-come first-serve basis for Friday night, May 8th. The cost is $20 per person. Call the Office of Residence Life at 507-457-1409 to make arrangements. Hotel-type accommodations are also available at the Alverna Conference Center on the Saint Teresa Campus, approximately three miles from the main campus. There are 30 guest rooms available and two room options. Twenty-two rooms have one double bed; seven rooms have two twin-size beds. Each room has a private bathroom, internet, small television, bed linens and towels. Rooms are available Friday, May 8th and Saturday, May 9th.
