Digital Media and Journalism Major

 

(New for fall 2016)

The new Digital Media and Journalism major is an exciting mix of courses in web authoring, social media, multimedia production, marketing, advanced newswriting, and graphic design. Expectations for communication professionals are increasing and this new curriculum not only reflects these changes but also makes graduates more desirable in the job market and better prepared for career advancement.

New minors are also being offered in Digital Media and Journalism, and Leadership. The minors are designed to enhance the educational experience by complementing majors in a variety of disciplines.

With a major in Digital Media and Journalism, students will explore how digital content is created and used in strategic communication efforts. This program also gives students a broad view of digital communication, including multimedia production, graphic design, social media, and online journalism. Degree candidates are given internship opportunities, offering them real-world experience and a direct connection to professionals in the field.
