The late Dr. Jon Kabara ’48 and his wife, Betty, challenged others to partner with them to help aspiring young entrepreneurs at Saint Mary’s succeed. This tradition continues today.
Dr. Kabara, an entrepreneur in the field of medical research, knew he wanted to share his passion, spirit and know-how with the businesspeople of tomorrow. In 2005, the Kabaras began their commitment to support the growth of entrepreneurship at Saint Mary’s. Through a transformational gift, Dr. Jon and Betty Kabara established the Kabara Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies.
An entrepreneur in trainingAfter pitching an invention to one of the executives on TV’s Shark Tank, presenting to Saint Mary’s faculty was a piece of cake. Stephany Beck ’21 might only be a freshman, but the Entrepreneurship and Marketing double major is already finding ways to enhance her pitching skills, network with area professionals, and learn how one day she could put her name on an innovative product that could help others.
