Programs designed to serve your calling and your career

Rooted in our Lasallian Catholic tradition, the School of Education at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota nurtures Catholic school educators and leaders who put faith into action, shaping students, schools, and communities — and we do it with you in mind every step of the way.

“Teachers are the voice of God, from Whom must come the words they use to make Him known to their pupils.”
- Saint John Baptist de La Salle, Patron Saint of Educators

Our promise to Catholic educators

The Catholic Educator Promise, donor-funded and rooted in our Lasallian mission, covers tuition for dependents of Minnesota K-12 Catholic school employees, making a Saint Mary’s undergraduate and residential education in Winona more accessible for families dedicated to Catholic education.

“The fact that you are helping and repaying people who give to Catholic schools means a ton. This is a life-changing opportunity that will make a difference to me years after college”, says Giana DiPietro, an education major at Saint Mary’s and daughter of Saint Agnes School employee in Saint Parul, Minn.

Catholic education in action

Sarah Striemer M’16, S’25 has dedicated her career to Catholic education, growing from first-grade teacher to principal of Saint John Vianney Catholic School. Her M.A. in Educational Leadership and ongoing Ed.S. degree from Saint Mary’s gave her the skills and confidence to lead with faith, purpose, and impact.

“It gave me the confidence to talk to people outside of my school, to grow relationships with other principals and other leaders. I don’t know that I would have done that without this program,” she said.
