Examine our living world. Then set out to change it.

Studying life answers fascinating questions. With a grounding in general biology concepts, you’ll examine our living world, develop research and presentation skills, and explore critical thinking skills for analysis and decision-making. The biology program includes a wide range of tracks to support your future goals, from pre-professional programs and graduate schools to healthcare and education.

What sets this program apart are its distinct advantages: an immersive, hands-on learning approach, the cultivation of leadership skills within your chosen field, an environment pulsating with modernity, and a spectrum of tracks designed to fortify your journey toward your ultimate goals.

With options ranging from the general biology track to specialized pathways like pre-medical professions and pre-physical therapy, you have the flexibility to shape your academic journey to match your ambitions precisely.

Laying the foundation for his future.

Mark Leonard B’19 came to Saint Mary’s with the goal of becoming a veterinarian. After taking standard biology courses, he realized the versatility of a biology degree. And, after working on tick research with one of his professors, he became fascinated with field research.

“It is one of, if not, the strongest bricks in the foundation that was laid in my professional academic life,” he said on the hands-on learning he received at Saint Mary’s.
