Computer Science Major: Management Information Systems Track

Connect the technical and managerial dimensions within information systems.

Within our computer science major, our management information systems (MIS) track offers specialized knowledge and skills essential for information systems in business and government. You’ll learn how to solve the complex problems of building a bridge between the computer science professional, who has a technical focus, and the managerial individual, who has a functional perspective.

Our program hones the technical skills and administrative insights required for the design, development, implementation, maintenance, and management of organizational information systems. This skill set plays a pivotal role in supporting business operations, decision-making, and overall management processes within an organization.

You’ll explore a diverse range of topics such as project management, statistical methods and concepts, and organizational behavior. You’ll also gain in-depth knowledge of data collection, data processing, information storage, and integration. Courses may cover multiple programming languages including languages like Java, Python, C++, and JavaScript.

Our dedicated faculty are industry experts, bringing their real-world experience into the classroom. They’ll guide you every step of the way, ensuring you have the confidence to launch an exciting career in MIS and be well-prepared to help stakeholders make informed business decisions and achieve their business goals.

Grounded in our rich Lasallian Catholic tradition, Saint Mary’s empowers you to embrace ethical leadership and service. Our mission extends beyond career preparation — we’re dedicated to guiding you toward a journey toward making a positive difference in the world.
