The Foundations in Nurse Anesthesiology course is designed to help you prepare academically and professionally to attend a nurse anesthesiology program.
If you have a bachelor’s degree and are preparing to apply or enter a nurse anesthesiology program, this course offers helpful academic preparation in the form of a broad chemistry review, important foundational anesthesia practice information, and guidance about the holistic graduate school application process.

Two remote synchronous meetings via Zoom: Week 2 and Week 15 (final week).
Chemistry modules are self-paced with multiple opportunities to connect with your instructor, including examinations and weekly homework assignments.

How do I apply?
Follow these steps to apply for the Foundations in Nurse Anesthesiology course. You’ll create an application portal, complete the program-specific application, and submit official transcripts. Use a personal email and track your progress easily through the online portal.
1. Create Your Application Portal
Go to smumn.edu/apply. Create an application portal login using your email address. Use a personal email address to avoid many employers’ filters or blocks.
Upon creating your application portal, you’ll receive an email to verify your address and create a password. Use this email address and password to access the portal or track acceptance progress.
Select the Continuing Education application in the Graduate and Doctoral area.
2. Complete the Application
Three questions will appear. To locate the Continuing Education DNP course select the following:
Graduate School of Health and Human Services
Continuing Education (DNP800)
Select Year and Semester
Complete the remaining application questionnaire, upload a current resume/CV summarizing your professional experience, review and sign.
3. Submit Official Transcripts
Contact your past higher educational institutions and request official transcripts. You must (at minimum) submit the transcript of your bachelor’s degree.

Please note: Saint Mary’s does not accept screenshots, forwarded eTranscripts, or paper transcripts that have been previously opened from their original sealed envelopes. You’ll be able to track the progress and receipt of the transcripts via the application portal login you created.
This course is not a requirement in the nurse anesthesiology curriculum. Completion of this course does not impact or influence admission into Saint Mary’s graduate program in nurse anesthesiology or any other program. Credits from this course do not transfer for required credits for the completion of the Nurse anesthesiology program at Saint Mary’s.
