Biochemistry Major

Experience the transformative power of biochemistry.

Biochemistry combines the power of chemistry and biology to solve real-world problems — from developing life-saving medicines to improving everyday products. At Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota in Winona, our biochemistry program gives you the tools to make a real impact.

You’ll build a strong foundation in both biology and chemistry while exploring career paths in biomedical research, forensics, toxicology, pharmaceuticals, and more. Our program is nationally accredited by the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB), one of only 101 in the country — a mark of quality and innovation.

Through challenging coursework in molecular biology, physics, and calculus, you’ll gain the academic and ethical skills needed to thrive in science and research. You’ll work side by side with faculty mentors in labs, gaining hands-on experience and conducting meaningful research.

Rooted in our Lasallian Catholic values, Saint Mary’s offers a supportive, purpose-driven environment where you can grow as both a scientist and a person.
