Computer Science Major: Data Analytics Track

Master the convergence of data expertise and business proficiency.

In the computer science major, the data analytics track provides you with a powerful skill set to become a computer scientist. This track combines the technical demands of data handling with the business skills needed to excel within an organization.

Unlike studying business intelligence, this track goes deeper into programming, database design, and data visualization that helps businesses harness their data and develop company-wide capabilities. Gain the skill set needed to collect, process, analyze, and interpret data.

At Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, you’ll learn alongside faculty with real-world experience and expertise, and who are committed to providing you with a well-rounded education. They will guide you on your career path, whether it’s as a data architect, data engineer, or systems designer. Here, we’ll help you build a career focused on helping businesses make informed decisions and tackle complex problems.

You’ll explore the principles and practices of data analytics, such as programming, data visualization, machine learning, SQL, database design, data processing, reports and dashboards. Courses may cover multiple programming or software languages commonly used like Java, C++, and Python.

Rooted in our Lassalian Catholic heritage, we empower all learners to live a life of service and ethical leadership. On our Winona Campus, you’ll find ways to develop not only professionally, but in your personal life and how to bring your talents to the world. Prepare to change the world, and vice versa.
