When to arrive

Doors to Orchestra Hall will open at 8 a.m. It is recommended to arrive on campus no later than 9 a.m. to allow time for parking and securing a seat before the academic procession of graduates begins at 9:30 a.m.

Professional photography

Legacies by Laura will be photographing all graduates during the Commencement ceremony as they walk across the stage. Graduates will receive a digital proof of the photos within two weeks following Commencement. Then graduates or family members may order online at Legacies by Laura.

Frequently asked questions

How do I apply to graduate?

Instructions for applying to graduate are sent to your student email once you have completed all degree requirements or are enrolled in your final course. If you believe you should have received this information but have not, please contact us for assistance.

Do my guests need tickets for the ceremony?

Yes, tickets are required for all guests. Only individuals with tickets will be allowed inside the venue. Seating is first-come, first-served.

Where do I get my cap, gown, and tassel?

Instructions for ordering your cap, gown, and tassel are sent to your student email. If you’re unable to locate the email, please check your spam folder or reach out to us for assistance.

Which side does my tassel go on?

Tassels START on the RIGHT and are MOVED to the LEFT.

When should I arrive for the ceremony?

Graduates should arrive at Orchestra Hall at least 45 minutes before the ceremony for check-in and line-up.

How long is the ceremony?

The ceremony typically lasts about two hours.

Where should guests park?

Parking is available at nearby ramps and lots. Please allow extra time for traffic and walking to the venue.

Will the ceremony be livestreamed?

Yes, you can watch in the "Livestream" section (above) on this page the day of the ceremony. It's a great opportunity for family and friends who cannot attend in person.

When will I receive my diploma?

Diplomas are mailed 6-8 weeks after final grades are posted. If there is an outstanding balance on your account, we will not order your diploma and cannot release your diploma to you until your balance is paid.

Will professional photos be taken?

Yes, a photographer will capture individual graduate photos during the ceremony. Purchase information will be emailed about one month later.

Is there a place to store my personal items during the ceremony?

Graduates should leave personal items such as purses, backpacks, or coats with their guests. These items cannot be stored at the check-in or line-up area. Lockers are available near the auditorium entrance for those who need to store belongings during the ceremony.

Will I receive my diploma at the ceremony?

Degrees are not distributed at commencement ceremonies. Not attending commencement does not impact your ability to receive your degree.
