The Winona Daily News recently showcased Francis Perroud’s work as an intern with the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) program, an internship program at The Hormel Institute in Austin, Minn. Perroud, a Saint Mary’s undergraduate student, spent the summer researching liver cancer and believes this internship has opened doors to his future career and studies.

“When you realize what an impact you can have on other people’s lives, it’s exciting. It makes me feel happy that I can be contributing to help someone else that is having cancer issues, not just liver but cancer in general,” he said.”
