From the story:
The university offers camps for a variety of skill levels, from beginner to elite, and for a variety of ages, from around five years old until high school graduation, Head Men’s Hockey Coach and Camp Director Ryan Egan said. Men’s and women’s hockey staff, as well as student athletes, coach the students at the camps, giving students a more personal connection when they go to hockey games at SMU, he said, and the students come not only from Winona, but from towns such as La Crosse, Wis., and La Crescent, he continued.
“We want them to come and work hard to improve their skill set while they’re at camp, but I think probably most important to me is that they leave camp having a greater love for the game,” Egan said. “I want them to have fun while at camp, get better, and I want them to be excited about the opportunity to play our sport, which is hockey, which is near and dear to all of us that have played it, that have been a part of it our whole life. And then obviously, it’s great to have the rink on campus and have ice all summer and give the kids the opportunity to skate.”
