News 8 Now released an article and news segment highlighting Saint Mary’s women’s hockey team’s Rally for Riley game, a recent event held in support of teammate Riley Vander Esch, who is undergoing cancer treatment.
From the Story:
“Vander Esch took part in a ceremonial puck drop before the game. As she completes radiation and prepares to undergo treatment, her teammates say they are rallying behind her.
Heath Issacson, head coach of the Saint Mary’s University Women’s Hockey team, spoke on how the event was more than just a hockey game.
“They’ll see a good hockey game, but it’s more to bring awareness to what we’re doing,” said Issacson. “[Riley’s] still a part of this team, nothing has changed with that.”
