Julie Gauderman, DNAP, associate director and assistant professor of the Doctor of Nursing Practice in Nurse Anesthesiology program, was recently featured in a Becker’s Hospital Review article, “The ‘why’ behind increased maternity service closures and what can be done.” Gauderman discusses some of the reasons behind these closures and the challenges maternity services pose for hospitals, particularly in rural areas. She also discussed her approach to solutions and how she implements them through her role as an educator.
From the Story:
“‘As a nurse anesthesiology educator, our solution focused approach looks at patient access to care and we actively recruit students from diverse areas, including rural and underserved areas in hopes they will return to these areas and provide anesthesia services.'”
