Join Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota for a night of laughter, romance, and mischief as Lord Chamberlain’s Men performs Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. The performance will take place Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Page Theatre.

Twelfth Night is a romantic comedy of criss-crossed courting. Duke Orsino is in love with Countess Olivia, who has sworn off all men in mourning for her brother. Viola, who was separated from her brother in a recent shipwreck, enters Orsino’s court disguised as a man and is sent to woo Olivia on Orsino’s behalf. Olivia falls in love with Viola and Viola falls in love with Orsino, and romantic chaos ensues.

Lord Chamberlain’s men is a premier all male theatre company based in the United Kingdom. They perform Shakespeare’s plays with authentic Elizabethan costumes, music, and dance, recreating his works as he would have seen them. Their performance in Winona will be the finale of their first U.S. tour which spanned across 5 states in the Midwest.

Prior to their performance they will host a community workshop on Monday, Nov. 3 from 5 to 6:15 p.m. The workshop will explore the rhetorical and literary devices of Shakespearean text and include a backstage tour. There will also be a pre-show talk on Tuesday, Nov. 4 from 6:15 to 6:45 p.m. Learn all about the choices behind the play’s design and the historical context of the production.
