Derek Jackson featured in Minnesota Star Tribune article
Business professor Derek Jackson was recently featured in a Star Tribune article, “As COVID spread, so did fraud. Minnesota saw a lot of it.” In the article, Jackson discussed the fraudulent use of federal relief funds distributed during the pandemic. The most notorious case of fraud in Minnesota happened within Feeding Our Future, a children’s nutrition nonprofit that embezzled millions of dollars in federal relief. “‘Economists can debate this, but if the government hadn’t acted quickly, it would have been much tougher to recover,’ said Derek Jackson, business professor at St. Mary’s University in Winona. But government oversight of the money failed at times, Jackson and others who follow COVID fraud say.”
