Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota is proud to announce the launch of its newly revised K-12 Reading Graduate Certificate program. This fully online, 15-credit program is designed for Tier 3 and 4 licensed educators — including those in public, private, and charter schools — seeking to deepen their expertise in literacy instruction. By emphasizing both early literacy development and cultivating strategies for high-vocabulary content areas in disciplines like science, history, and math, the program aims to ensure educators are prepared to support every learner — regardless of age, ability, or background.
“In alignment with recent statewide initiatives and the evolving needs of today’s classrooms, we recognized the urgent need to support educators with cutting-edge, flexible, and relevant professional development,” said Katie Hubbard, director of the K-12 Reading Graduate Certificate program. “This certificate program goes beyond meeting state requirements — it equips teachers to lead literacy instruction across entire school systems.”
Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota is dedicated to providing an education that transforms individuals and communities through excellence, ethical leadership, and a commitment to the common good. This program reflects that dedication by equipping educators with the knowledge and skills to make a lasting impact on literacy instruction in Minnesota. By emphasizing both early literacy and the application of literacy strategies in content areas, this program works to ensure that all students, regardless of grade level, receive the literacy support they need to succeed.
