Students may choose to use credits from the Critical, Creative, and Design Thinking Certificate and/or the Teaching, Training, and Leading with Technology Certificate toward completing the Master of Education in Learning Design and Technology. Students completing both certificates will fulfill all the requirements for the master’s degree.

We review each applicant thoroughly and strive to ensure each admitted student is a great fit. An undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited institution
A minimum GPA of 2.75 on a 4.00 scale (If your overall GPA is below 2.75, you may receive provisional status in the program at the discretion of the program director.)
The language proficiency to succeed in graduate-level classes
No prerequisite coursework is required for the online M.Ed. program.
Neither transfer credits nor electives will be accepted into the online M.Ed. program.
Students with transcripts from universities located outside of the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, and Canada (except for the Quebec Province) are required to take and pass English proficiency testing.
Saint Mary’s accepts the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 72, the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum score of 6.0, the Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) with a minimum score of 74 percent, the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE) with a minimum score of 51, or the International Test of English Proficiency (ITEP) with a minimum score of 4.0.
Whether you apply through our online application via hard copy, or in-person with a Saint Mary’s admissions counselor, your application must include the following items:
$25 non-refundable application fee: Saint Mary’s alumni, students seeking readmission, veterans, and active military personnel are exempt from this application fee.
Official transcripts: An official transcript issued to Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota from the institution posting the applicant’s completed degree and other relevant transcripts documenting program prerequisites and potential transfer credits must be sent separately and directly from your institution. Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota accepts official transcripts electronically from previously attended institutions. The Master of Education in Learning Design and Technology from Saint Mary's is unique because it was designed by real-world PreK-12 educators, administrators, and technology industry leaders. How long does the program take?
The online Master of Education in Learning Design and Technology program consists of 5 semesters (30 credits). In the online program, two 3-credit courses run in 8-week consecutive terms each semester. Semesters run year-round, with three semesters in a calendar year. The program can be completed in 20 months.
Will I be required to attend online classes during set times?
No. As long as you submit your assignments by the time they are due, you can work and study when it is most convenient for you.
What are the admissions requirements?
Applicants must have a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution and a GPA of at least 2.75 on a 4.00 scale. Review all admissions requirements on the program overview page.
Is financial aid available?

Is there a campus residency requirement, or is the program entirely online?
The program is fully online. You do not need to attend Saint Mary's on-ground campuses.
Can I transfer credits from another university and graduate program?
No. Neither transfer credits nor electives will be accepted into the program.
Is this a self-paced program?
No, these are instructor-led courses. While there are no set class times, there are assignments with set due dates.
