Campus Safety
The Office of Campus Safety makes every effort to ensure and maintain a safe and comfortable environment for everyone associated with all Saint Mary’s campuses. Campus Safety personnel are available 24 hours a day to assist in emergencies, provide campus escorts, and enforce regulations. They also patrol all administrative and residence halls to maintain security at all times.
Safety Alerts
Timely safety alerts will be issued when it has been determined that a situation may pose a serious or ongoing threat to a campus community.

Winona has a low crime rate. However, as Saint Mary’s only residential campus, the Winona Campus has additional safety practices in place.

Locked Residence Halls
Main entrances to all residence halls are locked 24 hours a day, seven days a week with access controlled by a key or a computerized card access system.
Emergency Call Boxes
Emergency call boxes located on campus offer a direct link to Campus Safety to report an emergency, such as a suspicious person or circumstance, a medical emergency, or to request a safety escort.
Parking
Students may purchase parking passes for the Winona Campus at the Office of Campus Safety for $30 per semester or $60 per academic year. Parking lots are conveniently located less than five minutes walking distance from residence halls.
Severe Weather
Saint Mary's uses an automated communication service to deliver information on school closures due to weather. Information will be delivered via four different ways of communication, including: voice messages delivered to home phones, work phones, and cell phones; emails to email addresses; text messages to cell phones and other text-based devices; and TTY/TDD receiving devices for the hearing impaired.
Voice messages and emails are not optional and will be delivered to the contact information you provide. You may opt-out of the text messages to your cell phone at any time by replying "STOP stmarys" or "QUIT stmarys" to 23177. To ensure Saint Mary's has the most up-to-date contact information, please verify and update your emergency contact information in the Student Portal.
