“We must find the time to stop and thank the people who make a difference in our lives.” — John F. Kennedy

Today, we stop to give thanks to our Winona Campus students who are making a difference in the lives of the Saint Mary’s community. We thank you for testing before you arrived on campus. We thank you for participating in the mass COVID-19 testing event last Friday. We thank you for downloading the COVIDaware MN app. We thank you for your compliance with the soft quarantine during the first 10 days you have been on campus.

We see you wearing your masks. We see you observing social distancing. We see you keeping your “families” and “pods” to smaller numbers. We see you obeying our campus curfew. We see all of these things and are so proud of you. We see all of these things and are so thankful for your commitment to the university community.

Our soft quarantine ends at 4 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4. Our campus curfew (4 a.m. to 10 p.m.) will end at 4 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 8. We remain at level 3 (orange) for COVID-19 risk mitigation and will announce any changes to that level in the next week to 10 days.

We know how difficult continual compliance with our COVID-19 protocol is. We understand how tired you are of all things COVID-19. That makes us all the more thankful for what you are doing. It’s early in the semester, but your hard work and commitment have allowed us to start strong and safe.

Keep up the good work! Stay steadfast and resilient. Keep being the difference in our lives. Together, we can move forward.
